Karasuya (Iwaki, Fukushima, JP)

"Karasuya" is a lively eating place since 1960' located at Hisanohama, Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture. However it was completely destroyed by the Great East Japan earthquake and Tsunami. After 6 years, Karasuya was re-open at the same area via temporary shop at different place. Around the site is still empty. Therefore Karasuya is tried to make not only just an eating place, but a new public space. It has a gallery about the disaster and after life. It is happen a lot of exchange of opinions between locals and volunteers. Now Karasuya is a first light of this future land!!
